The Paul Mitchell straightening/Smoothing Iron is a awesome product. I have very frizzy curly hair. My hair is beautiful when I use it. I have used other flat irons, this one works so much better then all the rest. My hair dresser uses the same one and she raves about it. It is worth the money.

Wish I would have gotten the silver one!! Its ok, but I wish it would hold my hair on the plates better (which is what the silver one is supposed to do). It seems like I have to iron the same spot a couple of times to get my hair to straighten, even though my hair is pretty easy to maintain. I’ve even tried turning the temp way up – doesn’t really change the effect I’m getting. And it feels like it may be cheaply made..? I don’t know how to describe it really, but it makes a ‘clanking’ noise when you release it from your hair.
Overall, I still believe in the PM products, I just wish I would have known more about the difference in the black and silver products before I made my purchase!

I have very thick, Caribbean, wavy hair. I use this flat iron with other paul mithchell products, the instant moisture shampoo and I combine a bit of the instant moisture and super skinny conditioners together. I spray the heat seal and put some of the super skinny serum and quick slip balm before blow drying. I just blow dry quickly then I flat iron by small sections. It takes me about an hour but i have tons of hair and medium length. This saves me a trip to the hair salon since I used to go get it blow dried every week! I’m a big fan of paul mitchell hair products since I’ve been going to the paul mitchell salon for a couple of years now. I also get the PM shine treatment every 4 months to hydrate my hair.
The Iron heats up very quickly and it doesn’t burn my hair or dry it out too much. I highly recommend getting some of the products I mentioned above to protect your hair from the heat. I’m in love with this iron and wouldn’t go anywhere without it!

I had the previous model with the green plates and loved it. Unfortunately I damaged it using it in another country and couldn’t find a like replacement. This one works ok, and straightens my hair, but it doesn’t seem to get it as smooth and the ends are still slightly frizzy. I miss my old Paul Mitchell.

My daughter had purchased the earlier model (with the green inner paddle)from a local hair supply store and paid in excess of $160.00. That said, I went out and bought a $20.00 iron from a local department store, and got exactly what I paid for! So when it died (less than a year) I searched for something similar to my daughters. I found the exact model two years newer than my daughters here at Amazon for far less than she paid for hers.
All I can say is I love it!
