The cosmetics which have been designed not to run, smear, or come off even when your skin gets wet are known as waterproof makeup. You might be wondering what makes these makeup waterproof. Most of the cosmetics contain a substance called dimethicone. It is an oil based on silicone. It is due to the presence of dimethicone that your skin becomes soft and smooth with the application of cosmetics. In waterproof makeup, a modified form of dimethicone is present. It is known as dimethicone copolyol. This particular ingredient makes the makeup keep adhered to your skin even when you are wet by sweating or swimming in water.
